BIOGRAPHY
Leo Xu is the founder of Fang An. Prior to founding Fang An, Leo worked at a boutique firm in downtown Toronto for nearly 15 years. Leo is currently practicing law in Toronto, Canada, with his main areas of practice being intellectual property law, franchise law, corporate law, commercial law, and international trade law.
In the field of intellectual property law, Leo is a Canadian registered trademark agent assisting clients in applying for and registering trademarks, industrial designs, and copyrights in Canada, and helping clients protect their intellectual property rights in Canada. Leo has more than 10 years of expertise guiding customers on all facets of IP enforcement and protection, including licensing, acquisition, and anti-counterfeiting strategies.
Leo is also an attorney in California, USA, representing clients in applying for and registering trademarks and copyrights in the United States.
Leo has extensive experience in technology licensing and transfer. He has assisted licensors, assignees, and licensees in technology licensing and transfer transactions between China and its western counterparts.
In the field of franchise law, Leo has more than ten years of experience in both Canadian and Chinese franchising. On the one hand, working with Chinese law firms, Leo has assisted western franchisors in establishing franchising systems and developing franchise businesses in China, helping clients prepare franchise disclosure documents and franchise agreements in accordance with local law, and assisting clients in completing franchising registration and annual reporting with China's Ministry of Commerce.
At the same time, Leo also assists American, Canadian, and Chinese franchisors in establishing franchise systems and conducting franchise activities in Canada, helping clients prepare franchise disclosure documents and franchise agreements that comply with Canadian provincial franchise legislation, and assisting clients in resolving franchise-related disputes.
In the field of corporate law, Leo and his team assist clients in establishing companies in Canada, preparing corporate organization documents, shareholder agreements, share purchase, and other related legal documents, and providing clients with legal services related to corporate governance.
Leo has also assisted North American and European clients in providing legal services and preparing related legal documents for transactions such as manufacturing, distribution, investment, and factory construction with Chinese partners, as well as protecting their rights in China.
